An advanced practice nurse is a nurse who has obtained at least a master’s degree in nursing with further specialization within in the APRN category. The main role of the advanced nursing care providers is to maintain and ensure qualified healthcare to patients. APRNs are skilled with advanced academic and clinical education, skills, knowledge and scope of practice in nursing. So, the combination of advanced nursing care and home support offers a skilled nursing care to patients. They can take direct care position such as nurse practitioner and nurse-midwife. And, can take indirect role of nurse informaticist and nurse leader

Registered nurses are nurses who are fully trained with an official state certificate of competence. Their scope of practice is regularised by professional body or council and they are having a wide variety of professional scope. The duty of a registered nurse is fully depending on the field they are choosing to work.

Emergency nursing is a nursing profession that focuses on medical emergencies in order to avoid long-term disability or death of the patient. They are providing immediate care to patients in an emergency and they are mostly employed in the emergency departments of the hospital. An emergency nurse should have a vast knowledge about all the nursing field because they are supposed to deal with every case like heart attacks, strokes, gunshot wounds, car accidents, alcohol and/or drug intoxication, psychiatric and behavioural problems and so on. So, they must have a piece of deep knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and psychology and be able to communicate effectively with patients and their families.

Critical Care Nurses provides an extreme care to critically ill or long-suffering or unstable patients following an extensive injury, surgery or life-threatening disorders. These nurses are commonly working in various departments that includes intensive care units, medical intensive care units, surgical intensive care units, trauma intensive care units, coronary care units, cardiothoracic intensive care units and so on. Similar to all other nursing specialties, a critical care nurse should have a deep knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and physiology, clinical assessment skills, vast knowledge about diseases and conditions, and ongoing researches related mainly on ICU treatment options.  

The main aim of the nursing education and related researches is the development of nursing profession by giving both theoretical and practical training to nurses. Healthcare management also known as healthcare administration is one of the growing industries in the world. The main duty of a healthcare administrator is to ensure that the hospital departments are running smoothly and to check whether qualified employees are hired or not. They should take responsibilities of the entire hospital network and the healthcare system including the nursing care. There are general healthcare managers who are responsible for managing or helping to manage an entire facility and there are specialists to taking care the specific departments such as finance, marketing, budgeting and so on. 

Palliative care is a specialized medical care for patients in order to improve their quality of life. This is usually provided for patients who have a serious or life-threatening disease, such as cancerheart failuredementia and many others. This specialized medical care is provided by specially-trained team of doctorsnurses and other specialists for giving an extra layer of support to patients. It can be helpful at any stage of illness and it is best, if provided from the point of diagnosis. Palliative care nurses also help patients to understand their medical condition and help them to make their choices for medical treatment. Patient palliative care can be provided along with treatment and it does not depend on prognosis.

Pediatric nursing is a nursing specialization in which nurses provide medical care for children from birth to late teens. They should provide support and help to children and their family who is suffering from various health problems like birth defectsinfectionsheart deformities and many others. And they must have a deep knowledge in growth and development of children in order to meet the child’s emotional and physical needs. Most of the pediatric nurses prefer a family centered care and thereby normalize the life of the child during the hospitalisation.

Mental health nursing or psychiatric nursing is a nursing specialization who is responsible to provide care to patient’s who is experiencing mental illness or distress. Nurses working in this department should have the ability to understand the psychological, and characteristic or behavioural changes of a person. Since mental health awareness has begun throughout various countries, the need for psychiatric nursing has raised. They are getting an average salary of $96500 a year as per the report. Their main job role includes meeting the patient’s social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules and evaluating patient progress and treatment status.

Transitional care or care transition is a medical field designed to ensure continuity of the healthcare even if a person moved from one location to another location or defined as various levels of healthcare within the same place. It is very important for elder patients with multiple chronic disorders and complex therapeutic regimens. During transitional care, nurses should ensure that there should not be any poorer outcomes due to medication errors or due to any kind of errors of communication among the involved healthcare providers and between providers and patients family care providers.

Women health nursing is a nursing specialization that mainly focuses on women’s reproductiveobstetric and gynecological health and all other women health issues. Unlike a nurse-midwife, women health nurse practitioners are providing care for women in their entire lifespan, but these two specializations are having some educational similarities. Nurse midwifery mainly concerned about pregnancy healthcare of women. They ensure the safety of mother during the childbirth.

Primary healthcare is the first level or the entry level of the healthcare system that includes a wide range of services of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Family medicine is a division of primary care which is devoted to providing a comprehensive healthcare for every individual in the family across all ages. Family physicians are also called as primary care physician who ensure health promotion and disease promotion by caring each member in a family.

Generating new ideas and technologies in healthcare system and nursing practice over the existing ideas in an effective manner will improve the quality of healthcare. Nurses and all healthcare practitioners are encouraged to do some innovative practices to improve patient experiences and health outcomes. Many nurses have the skills to solve problems in a good manner with a new approach. They are having the ability to give a keen observation in every situation. Such nurses can easily develop new research ideas to test new interventions in a regular basis in the larger healthcare community.

Public health nursing is to provide healthcare services to public by working with whole communities. They educate the public and society about various health issues and conduct health education campaigns and awarenessprograms to prevent a disease. They require a wide range of skills that mainly includes communication skills, analytical skills, theoretical and practical knowledge of various diseases. They can work in a hospital, community health centres, schools, government health department, home and all healthcare promoting centers.

Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) can give an advanced healthcare to patients in hospitals and other healthcare centres. They can provide an expert advice and opinion in specific medical condition or treatment methods to improve the healthcare quality. They should basically need a strong decision-making skill and observation skill. A CNS can work with all nurse practitioners to improve outcomes and to improve the care. They are registered nurses with a graduate degree in nursing at the masters or doctorate level.
