Palliative Care and Pain Management
Palliative care is a specialized medical care for patients in order to improve their quality of life. This is usually provided for patients who have a serious or life-threatening disease, such as cancer, heart failure, dementia and many others. This specialized medical care is provided by specially-trained team of doctors, nurses and other specialists for giving an extra layer of support to patients. It can be helpful at any stage of illness and it is best, if provided from the point of diagnosis. Palliative care nurses also help patients to understand their medical condition and help them to make their choices for medical treatment. Patient palliative care can be provided along with treatment and it does not depend on prognosis.
